FOSSers club organizes Workshop on “Get Started with Web3”

Vidya’s  FOSSers Club (Free and Open Source Software Enthusiasts)  promotes the use, development, and contribution to Free and Open Source Software (FOSS).

The FOSSERS club of Vidya Academy of Science and Technology organized a workshop titled “Get Started with Web3” on 18 January 2025 The session aimed to introduce students to Web3 technologies and their practical applications.

The session began with a warm welcome by Ms. Manjusha P  (Institution Co-ordinator – FOSSERS club, Asst Prof, AIML Dept).In her address, she emphasized the importance of Web3 and encouraged students to explore emerging technologies in the field.

Session Details

The resource person for the workshop was Mr. Aman Zishan, a representative of the Web3 Kerala initiative. His presentation provided insights into:

• Introduction to Web3 : Understanding the evolution of the web and its transition to decentralized platforms.
• Latest Technologies in Web3 : Key trends and tools transforming the digital landscape.
• Bitcoin and Cryptocurrencies : A deep dive into blockchain, digital currencies, and their significance in the global economy.

Practical Session

The theoretical discussions were complemented by a practical session, where students had hands-on experience exploring the technologies discussed. This interactive segment helped participants gain a clearer understanding of Web3 applications.

Participants
The workshop was attended by around 30 students from the AIML, CSE, EEE, ECE, CE department of Vidya , all of whom actively engaged in the practical sessions.

Engaging Activities

To keep the session lively, the workshop included quizzes on the topics covered.The winners were rewarded with T-shirts sponsored by Web3, adding enthusiasm and participation among the students. Additionally, the FOSSERS club distributed a variety of club-branded stickers, creating a memorable takeaway for attendees.Certificates were  provided for all students participated
