Asst. Librarian presents paper at the International Conference on “Building Sustainable Libraries in Connecting Communities”

Libraries can go beyond their traditional role to help create stronger, more inclusive and sustainable communities.

Sustainability has emerged as a crucial concern in recent years, influencing every facet of human life—including the operations and missions of libraries. As vital centers of knowledge, learning, and community engagement, libraries play a significant role in advancing sustainable practices. In this context, Ms. Surabhi M. S (Assistant Librarian) presented a paper at the International Conference on “Building Sustainable Libraries in Connecting Communities: Librarianship, Technology and Collaboration, organized by the Department of Library and Information Science, Bharathidasan University, held from 07–08 February 2025.

Exploring ahead of Library Walls: Libraries to Engage Sustainable Communities with Digital Collaboration

 Ms Surabhi presented the  paper  “Exploring ahead of Library Walls: Libraries to Engage Sustainable Communities with Digital Collaboration” : A Case Study in Academic Libraries to Increase Community Engagement & Collaboration in Sustainability” that explored how libraries can embrace diversity and inclusion through digital tools and collaboration.

The  case study investigated how academic  libraries representing Vidya Academy of Science & Technology, Thrissur  and  AIWA, Malappuram contributed to the revitalization efforts of its community by building social networks that benefitted all members of the community. Data Collection included a Structured questionnaire with multiple-choice & Likertscale questions such as Academic level & library usage, Reasons for visits & satisfaction with services, Awareness of sustainability initiatives, Data Analysis, Descriptive statistics (frequencies & percentages), Identified patterns in library usage, satisfaction & sustainability awareness etc . Undergraduate students , Postgraduate students, PhD students and Phd holders attended the survey .
