CE student participates in National Workshop on Recent Trends in Drone Technology
Vidya students gained comprehensive exposure to the latest developments in Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) technology through a combination of technical sessions and hands-on training.
Anaz P. B.(S5,CE Dept) successfully participated in a Two-Day Workshop on “Recent Trends in Drone Technology” organized by the Department of Civil Engineering, Maharaja’s Technological Institute, Thrissur on 30 and 31 January 2025.
The workshop provided participants with comprehensive exposure to the latest developments in Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) technology through a combination of technical sessions and hands-on training.The programme covered the fundamentals of drone technology, UAV regulations, safety protocols, mission planning, drone operation, payload management, and maintenance, with particular emphasis on their applications in modern civil engineering.
The first day focused on drone-based data collection techniques, where participants received practical training in advanced surveying, mission planning, instructor-guided drone flying, individual flight practice, and flight assessment. On the second day, participants were introduced to drone data processing using QGIS and Google Earth Pro.
The workshop also highlighted the diverse applications of drone technology in Civil Engineering, including topographic surveying, construction monitoring, infrastructure inspection, stockpile measurement, disaster assessment, and environmental monitoring.
