Celebrating Innovation: Vidya faculty member’s groundbreaking Research Proposal wins Maximum KTU Research Seed Money Grant of Rs 2 Lakhs
Research at Vidya continues to uphold its commitment to promoting original research, strengthening the research culture, and encouraging faculty to take up problem-solving initiatives with strong social and technological relevance.
The KTU Research Seed Money Scheme (RSM), instituted by APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, supports innovative research projects initiated by faculty members of KTU-affiliated institutions. Proposals were evaluated purely on merit, and a maximum financial assistance of ?2 lakh is awarded per selected project.
It is with immense pride and honor that the Editorial Team of News & Events shares the inspiring news that Dr. Abitha M A (Asso Prof,ECE Dept) has been awarded the KTU Research Seed Money grant for her research proposal titled “Optimal Guidance System for Quadrotor UAV Maneuvering in Rescue Operations”
Out of over 100 proposals reviewed by the Research Screening Committee, only 40 projects were selected for financial assistance following a rigorous two-stage evaluation process. Dr. Abitha’s project stood out and was awarded the maximum sanctioned amount of RS 2,00,000/-(2 lakhs) – a testament to the strength and relevance of her research and marking a notable achievement both for her and for Vidya.
This research project aims to develop an optimal guidance system for quadrotor UAVs tailored specifically for rescue operations in constrained and dynamic environments. The proposed system integrates real-time environmental feedback with advanced control algorithms to enable UAVs to navigate complex terrains efficiently and safely during emergency scenarios such as natural disasters or urban collapses
A special acknowledgement is extended to Dr. Sooraj K (Head VRC & Professor, ME Dept) for his valuable insights and guidance in formulating and refining the research proposal and the proposal with KTU’s expectations and enhancing its overall quality. Dr.S.Swapnakumar (HoD, ECE Dept) also played a key role with his consistent support in ensuring the proposal’s refinement and timely submission.
