A step towards Digital Libraries : NSS undertakes Library Data Entry and Book Arrangement Project

In a significant step toward enhancing community learning resources, the NSS Unit of Vidya Academy of Science & Technology carried out a Library Data Entry and Organization Activity at Purogamana Kalavedhi Vayanashala, Vaduthala on 29 March 2025. The objectives include 

  • Digitally document the library’s book collection.
  • Systematically organize the books for efficient access and management.
  • Provide NSS volunteers with practical exposure to data handling and collaborative work

During the session, volunteers meticulously entered bibliographic details of 1,575 books into a digital system, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency of records. The activity also included a physical reorganization of the books, optimizing shelf arrangement for easier navigation and usability.

The entire activity was carried out under the capable leadership of the NSS Volunteer Secretaries Mrithyunjay R (S6,EEE Dept) and  Devika Mothilal (S6,ECE Dept) Their dedication, planning, and execution played a pivotal role in the smooth and efficient completion of the activity. The collaborative spirit among the volunteers was evident throughout the process, contributing to the initiative’s overall success.

The activity was conducted under the constant support and supervision of Mr Rajesh S K (NSS Program Officer, Asso Prof, EEE Dept) and Ms Delmy David V (NSS Program Officer, Asst Prof, CSE Dept).
