Alumni interactive session by CE Dept

To foster engagement between current students and accomplished alumni, the Department of Civil Engineering has been organizing Alumni Interactive Sessions.

An alumni technical talk and interactive session was conducted by esteemed alumnus, Mr. Vivek K. Vishwanath (Research Scholar, IIT Madras, M.Tech 2014–16 Batch).He has recently submitted his Ph.D. thesis in the Structural Engineering stream. His research focused on “Precast Connections in Buildings,” a critical aspect of modern construction.He presented during the session, enriched by insights from his doctoral research.

Dr Anjali P Sasidharan  (Asso Prof, CE Dept) introduced and welcomed Mr. Vivek to the session.Dr. Abhilasha P. S. (HoD, CE Dept) emphasized the importance of bridging theoretical knowledge with practical insights through real-time discussions and active participant involvement.The program was coordinated by Ms. Chithra M (Asst Prof, CE Dept)

Precast concrete is increasingly being used in building construction due to its efficiency, enhanced quality control, and reduced construction time. However, designing and implementing the connections between precast elements remains a significant challenge.
