Press Meet sheds light on the legacy of Vidya’s Scholarship and Endowment Bestowal Function 2025
To share the latest updates, invite media participation, and express the institution’s joy regarding the forthcoming Scholarship and Endowment Bestowal Function 2025, a press meet was organized on 16 July 2025 at Press Club, Erumappetti.
At the scholarship endowment ceremony press meet, Ms Surabhi M S (Asst Librarian) made the opening announcement and warmly welcomed dignitaries along with representatives from diverse print and electronic media. She acknowledged and thanked the media personnel for their steadfast support of Vidya.
Adv. P. N. Unnirajan (Director – Administration,VICT),who led the press conference, delivered a detailed account of the scholarship programmes spearheaded by the Vidya International Charitable Trust (VICT) in collaboration with the institution’s well-wishers.He highlighted Vidya’s inspiring track record of supporting over 6,100 students through scholarships exceeding Rs 91 crores over the last 22 years.He also announced that 34 scholarships amounting to Rs 19 lakhs will be distributed this year,generously sponsored by Manappuram Foundation, the CSR division of Manappuram Finance Ltd. Adv. P. N. Unnirajan informed the media that Mr. Madhu S. Nair (Chairman and Managing Director of Cochin Shipyard Limited) will be the Chief Guest at the event. Mr. V.P. Nandakumar (Managing Director and CEO of Manappuram Finance Limited) will serve as the Guest of Honour. The function will be presided over by Mr. P.K. Gauthaman (Patron Trustee,VICT).Mr. Sabu Soumian (Chairman VICT) , Mr. Suresh Lal (Executive Director, VICT),Dr. Shalij P.R. (Director – Academics, VICT) and Dr. Sunitha C (Principal) will jointly lead the proceedings.
Mr E. G. Ashokan (Trustee Coordinator,VICT) emphasized that this scholarship endowment ceremony embodies the noble vision of “Enlightening through Education” and demonstrates a strong commitment to the social and educational advancement of underprivileged and marginalized communities.He shared that, committed to community upliftment, the trust prioritizes giving back to society.
Dr. Jeeva K A (Programme Convener, HoD, AIML Dept) informed that, through the scholarship scheme conducted by Vidya Social Empowerment Center (VSEC) under VICT, scholarships will be awarded to meritorious students from Thrissur district schools on this occasion.Dr Mary P Varghese (Programme Convener,HoD, EEE Dept) stated about the comprehensive scholarship program, “Roots,” instituted by alumni of the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department, will oversee awarding scholarships to successful “Roots” recipients as well as newly admitted Electrical program students at Vidya. A concise overview of the different schemes and financial assistance programs was presented jointly by Dr. Jeeva and Dr Mary.
The session highlighted the broad spectrum of initiatives undertaken by the Vidya International Charitable Trust (VICT), with a special focus on its commitment to supporting deserving students through scholarships and endowments.
