Scholarship and Endowment Bestowal Function 2025

An event celebrates the institution’s enduring commitment to academic excellence and social upliftment through financial assistance to deserving students.
Guided by the transformative ideals of “Educate, Enlighten, the Scholarship and Endowment Distribution Function held on 19 July 2025 stood as a beacon of hope and encouragement for meritorious students from underserved backgrounds.This flagship event of the Vidya International Charitable Trust (VICT) brought together dignitaries, scholars, faculty, and well-wishers in a vibrant celebration of merit and compassion
The event commenced with a solemn prayer by Mr. Ganga Chethikattil (Trustee, VICT), setting a serene and uplifting tone for the proceedings. Er Gouthaman P K (Patron Trustee,VICT) presided over the function with grace and dignity. The presence of Mr Madhu S Nair (Chairman and Managing Director, Cochin Shipyard) as Chief Guest elevated the occasion, and his thought-provoking address offered valuable insights and encouragement to the audience. Although Mr. V P Nandakumar (Managing Director & CEO, Manappuram Finance Ltd) was invited as the Guest of Honor, he could not attend the event due to unforeseen circumstances.In her warm and thoughtful welcome address, Dr. Sunitha C (Principal) congratulated the scholarship and endowment recipients, emphasizing not only their academic achievements but also the greater social responsibility that comes with such recognition. Mr. Madhu S Nair (Chairman and Managing Director, Cochin Shipyard Ltd.) was introduced by Mr. K K Thilakan (Executive Committee Member, VICT), who highlighted the Chief Guest’s remarkable contributions to the maritime industry, education, and philanthropy. 

As part of its steadfast commitment to social responsibility, Manappuram Foundation, the CSR arm of Manappuram Finance Ltd, awarded 34 scholarships totaling Rs 19 lakhs to deserving students during the event.These generous contributions were personally distributed by Mr. George De Das (CEO, Manappuram Foundation) and Ms. Silpa Treesa Sebastian (CSR Head, Manappuram Foundation), marking a significant gesture of support towards educational empowerment.Adv. P.N. Unnirajan (Director, VICT) introduced Mr. George De Das, acknowledging the notable contributions of Manappuram Foundation to both financial sector and community development.  
With the objective of fostering scientific curiosity and awareness among school students, Vidya Social Empowerment Center (VSEC)—an initiative of VICT organized Science Talent Test. The top-performing students were honored with Vidya Science Scholarships in recognition of their exceptional achievements.

Best outgoing student honored with Sunny Diamonds out sparkle award
Vidya has consistently provided its students with a vibrant and supportive environment that nurtures growth across academics, sports, and extracurricular pursuits. Joel  (2021–25 Batch, CSE Dept) has been selected for the ‘Sunny Diamonds Out Sparkle Award of Excellence’, instituted by Sunny Diamonds, a leading diamond trading group, to honor the Best Outgoing Student.The award was presented by Mr. Bobby I Kollannur – (Learning and Development, Sunny Diamonds, Kochi)

Mr. Vidyasagar V V (Scholarship Committee Convener, VICT) delivered an insightful briefing on the scholarships and endowments. Mr Suresh Lal (Executive Director VICT), Adv. P N Unnirajan (Director–Administration, VICT), Mr K K Thilakan (Executive Committee Member,VICT),Mr E G Asokan (Trustee Co-ordinator, VICT), Dr Sunitha C (Principal),Mr. Prakash Nadesan (Former Executive Committee Member, VICT), Mr Raju Karunakaran  (CCC member,, VICT),   Mr   Gangadharan C.M. (Trustee, VICT), Mr Ravindran P. (Trustee, VICT), Mr  Suresh N.A.(Trustee, VICT), Mr Mohanan (Trustee, VICT), Mr Gangadharan C.K. (Trustee, VICT), and distributed the certificates to the meritorious students. Mr. Shoby (President, Velur Grama Panchayat) attended he function. 

As a further tribute to this significant occasion, several faculty members and well-wishers of Vidya have instituted endowments in memory of their loved ones, aimed at recognizing and rewarding the toppers in University examinations Prof Ashita T A Memorial introduced by Mr Anoop A M, Gokul Memorial introduced by Mr Raveendran , Ms Mamatha Memorial by Mr E A Ramachandran), Prof Maya B Memorial Award instituted by Mr Krsihnakumar and endowments sponsored by Dr C Justin Jose (Adjunct Faculty, CE Dept) and Dr Deepa Mohan (former Asso Prof, CE Dept) were distributed on the occasion. Mr Prakash Natesan (former Executive Committee Member,VICT), Mr Biju P V (Asso Prof, ME Dept),Dr Shobha A P (Prof, AS Dept), Ms Bittu Lambi (Asso Prof, AS Dept),Dr Siju K C (Asso Prof, AS Dept),  presented their endowment prizes.
Er Gouthaman P K presented a memento to Mr Madhu and Mr. George De Das  as a token of gratitude.Dr Mary P Varghese (Programme Convener,HoD, EEE Dept) proposed vote of thanks. Ms Akhila R (Asst. Prof, EEE Dept) skillfully compered the event, adding vibrancy and ensuring a smooth flow of the proceedings.The smooth and successful execution of the Scholarship and Endowment Bestowal Function 2025 was made possible by the efforts of a dedicated team, led by Dr. Jeeva K A (Programme Convener, HoD, AIML Dept) and Dr Mary P Varghese (Programme Convener,HoD, EEE Dept).The coordination team comprised Ms Lasitha Mohandas (Asst Prof, EEE Dept) and Ms Aswathy E R (Asst Prof, AIML Dept) ably supported by other staff members and student volunteers.
