Tree plantation activity by Civil Engineering Students

With the aim of promoting environmental sustainability, the Department of Civil Engineering conducts various activities. As part of this initiative, the Civil Engineering students of the 2024–28 batch carried out a tree plantation on the college campus by planting a Mahkota Dewa (Phaleria macrocarpa) sapling behind the auditorium.

The occasion was graced by the presence of Dr. Abhilasha P. S (HoD, CE Dept), Ms. Chithra M. (Alumni Coordinator,Asst Prof, CE  Dept), group tutors of the batch, and other faculty members of the department, who appreciated the students’ initiative in enhancing campus greenery.

The Mahkota Dewa, also known as the “Crown of God”, is a medicinal plant valued for its traditional healing properties. In various cultures, extracts from its fruit are used in managing ailments such as diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, and certain infections, owing to its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antimicrobial qualities.

This plantation marks not only an effort to improve the campus environment but also serves as a symbolic gesture of the students’ commitment to health, wellness, and sustainability.
