Honouring the champions of ‘RISE’ Extempore by Vidya Women Empowerment Cell (VWEC)

As part of the celebrations of the International Day of the Girl Child 2025, Vidya Women Empowerment Cell (VWEC), in association with the Institution of Engineers (India) [IE(I)], organized an Extempore Competition titled “RISE – Resilience, Inspiration, Strength & Empowerment” on 10 October 2025, exclusively for the girl students of Vidya.
The competition focused on the theme ‘Empowerment Under Pressure: Girls Leading Advocacy and Upholding Rights During Humanitarian Crises’ resonating with the global theme for 2025- “The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead: Girls on the Frontlines of Crisis”
The contestants who demonstrated exceptional awareness of global humanitarian challenges and emphasized the need for empowered young women to lead transformative change emerged as the winners—Aysha Shafeek M. M (S3, CSE Dept) (Winner) and Gayathri C G (S5, CSE Dept (Runner-up), respectively
To acknowledge the enthusiastic involvement of every contestant and to honour the winners, a function was held on 15 October 2025 at Principal’s  office. All participants were presented with certificates, underscoring the inclusive and encouraging spirit of the event. Dr. Sunitha C (Principal) presented cash prizes and certificates to the winners in recognition of their outstanding performances. Dr. Sunitha appreciated their thought-provoking contributions, which truly stood out among the participants.
Ms Resmi K. Rajan (Convener, VWEC, Asst. Prof – Sr. Grade, ECE Dept) addressed the gathering, appreciating the participants for their confidence and commitment to the cause of women’s empowerment. Ms. Ponsy Paul (Asst. Prof – Sr. Grade, CE Dept) and Ms. Surabhi M. S. (Asst. Librarian), who served on the judging panel, highlighted how the contestants showcased exceptional articulation and insightful perspectives, effectively emphasizing the importance of accelerating gender equality efforts and inspiring positive social change. Their dedication and teamwork greatly contributed to the event’s success. In appreciation of their pivotal role in organizing and ensuring the smooth execution of the competition, Dhrishya Anil (S6, CSE Dept), Aswin (S5, CE Dept), and Sruthi Cinto T (S5, CE Dept) were honored with certificates
