Seminar on Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and Quality Assurance & Quality Control (QA/QC) Practices by ME Dept

With an to enhance understanding of inspection practices, quality standards and career opportunities in quality and inspection-related engineering fields,a seminar on ‘Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC)’ was conducted on 14 January 2026 for S8 Mechanical Engineering students.

The session was led by Mr. Vishnuduth K S (Business Development Manager) who provided an in-depth overview of the practical significance of NDT and QA/QC in modern engineering industries, including oil and gas, manufacturing, power plants, automotive, and infrastructure projects. He emphasized the critical role of inspection and quality systems in ensuring safety, reliability, regulatory compliance, and cost control throughout the product and project lifecycle.

Mr. Vishnuduth explained key NDT techniques such as Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Radiographic Testing (RT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MPT), Dye Penetrant Testing (DPT), and Visual Testing (VT). He also introduced students to the fundamentals of QA/QC documentation, inspection and test plans, material traceability, non-conformance handling, and the importance of codes, standards, and quality management systems in engineering projects.

The seminar offered valuable insights into career opportunities, required professional certifications, and employer expectations in inspection and quality assurance roles. Students actively participated in the session through interactive discussions and questions, making the program both engaging and application-oriented.

The session concluded with a discussion on the growing demand for skilled professionals in NDT and QA/QC, encouraging students to develop competencies in testing techniques, technical reporting, and adherence to industry standards.
