ME Dept hosts alumni interaction session on competitive exam preparation

The Department of Mechanical Engineering motivates students to prepare for competitive exams, particularly the GATE examination, through a variety of activities.

The Department organized an informative alumni interaction session with Mr. Dany Binoy  (2021-25 batch, ME Dept) and Mr. Abhinav Seby (2021-25 batch, ME Dept) to create awareness among students about competitive exam preparation, especially the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) on 19 February 2026 

As recent graduates who are actively involved in competitive exam preparation, the alumni shared their first-hand experiences, preparation strategies, and the importance of early planning.They explained effective methods for covering core mechanical engineering subjects, the importance of conceptual clarity, regular practice and proper time management while preparing for GATE.

The alumni also highlighted the major benefits and opportunities associated with qualifying GATE, including admission to premier institutions such as IITs and IISc for M.Tech programs, opportunities in Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), research careers and fellowship opportunities. They emphasized that GATE preparation not only helps in clearing the exam but also strengthens fundamental knowledge, which is beneficial for technical interviews and career growth.

The session was highly interactive, with students actively asking questions regarding preparation timelines, study resources, balancing academics with GATE preparation, and career prospects after qualifying the examination.

The interaction served as a valuable platform for students to understand the significance of competitive exams and motivated them to begin their preparation with clear goals and proper guidance.
