CE HoD and student present research paper at the SECON’26 conference

Vidya students investigate the structural performance of cold-formed sigma steel-concrete composite beams, with the goal of advancing innovative, efficient and sustainable structural systems in civil engineering

The Department of Civil Engineering proudly celebrated a significant academic achievement as  Nandha P. S (S3 M Tech, CE Dept) successfully presented her research paper at the International Conference on Structural Engineering and Construction Management (SECON) held from 03–05 June 2026.

Co-authored and supervised by Dr. Abhilasha P. S. (Prof, HoD, CE Dept), the paper—titled Structural Performance of Cold-Formed Sigma Steel Concrete Composite Beam” (Paper ID: 115)—investigated innovative and sustainable structural systems. Organized by the Federal Institute of Science and Technology (FISAT), Ernakulam, in collaboration with major professional bodies including the ASCE, IGBC, BAI, ISTE, IEI, ICI, and IIC, the prestigious event provided an invaluable platform for knowledge exchange and technical feedback from industry experts. This accomplishment not only highlights the dedication of Ms. Nandha and Dr. Abhilasha but also strengthens the institution’s research culture and national academic visibility.

The Editorial Team of News & Events joins the entire Vidya fraternity in extending hearty congratulations to Dr.Abhilasha and Nandha on this remarkable accomplishment that disseminates  key research findings to a diverse audience of academicians, industry professionals and practicing engineers !!!
