CE Dept conducts FDP on ‘BIM & Revit Fundamentals’

The Department of Civil Engineering is committed to equipping faculty members with advanced knowledge and practical skills in Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Autodesk Revit by conducting various training programmes, faculty development programmes, workshops, seminars, and hands-on learning activities.

The department , successfully organized a six-day Hybrid Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “BIM & Revit Fundamentals” from 29 June to 4 July 2026 in association with BIMLABS Global and Autodesk. The programme was conducted in hybrid mode, enabling participants to attend both online and offline sessions.

The FDP aimed to equip faculty members with the knowledge and practical skills required to integrate Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Autodesk Revit into engineering education. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members of Civil Engineering and Architecture Departments from AICTE-approved Engineering and Polytechnic Colleges.

The technical sessions from 29 June to 1 July 2026 were led by Mr. Kamal Lohi (BIM Application Engineer, BIMLABS Global). The sessions from 02 July to 4 July 2026 were handled by Ms. Athulya (BIM Application Engineer, BIMLABS Global).

The six-day FDP featured expert lectures, live demonstrations, hands-on Revit training sessions, interactive BIM-based teaching exercises, and collaborative discussions on the application of Autodesk Forma in construction. Participants gained practical exposure to BIM workflows, Revit modelling techniques, and innovative teaching methodologies that can be effectively integrated into classroom instruction and laboratory practice.

A total of 35 faculty members successfully completed the programme, including 20 external participants from various engineering and polytechnic institutions. The FDP also provided an excellent platform for educators to network, exchange ideas, and share best practices in adopting digital technologies for engineering education. The hybrid mode ensured wider accessibility while facilitating active interaction between the resource persons and participants.

The programme was coordinated by Dr. Abhilasha P. S. (Prof, HoD, CE Dept), Ms. Nirmala Krishnan (Asst Prof – Sr Grade, CE Dept) and Ms. Roshni Vijay (Asst Prof, CE Dept).The successful conduct of the FDP reflects the department’s continued commitment to promoting faculty development and advancing technology-enabled engineering education.
