CE HoD and student elevate institutional research with paper presentation at SECON’26
Vidya students strengthen the institution’s research culture and enhance its academic visibility at both national and international levels by presenting their research papers.
The Department of Civil Engineering, is pleased to announce that Nandha P. S (S3 M Tech, CE Dept) successfully presented her research paper titled “Performance Based Seismic Assessment of Corrosion Degraded CHS Tubular K-Joints for Resilient and Sustainable Steel Structures” (Paper ID: 110) at at the International Conference on Structural Engineering and Construction Management (SECON) held from 03–05 June 2026.
The research paper was co-authored by Dr. Abhilasha P. S. (Prof, HoD, CE Dept) who also served as the project supervisor for Ms. Nandha’s M.Tech research.
SECON’26 was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering, Federal Institute of Science and Technology (FISAT), Ernakulam, in collaboration with the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) – Student Chapter, Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) – Student Chapter, Builders Association of India (BAI) – Angamaly Centre, Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) – FISAT Chapter, Institution of Engineers (India) – Kochi Local Centre, Indian Concrete Institute (ICI) – Kochi Centre and Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) – FISAT.
The research focused on the performance-based seismic assessment of corrosion-degraded CHS tubular K-joints, addressing the development of resilient and sustainable steel structures. The study contributes to advancing innovative structural engineering solutions and promotes sustainable practices in infrastructure design. The conference presentation provided an excellent platform to disseminate the research findings among academicians, researchers, industry professionals, and practicing engineers while receiving valuable technical feedback from experts in the field.
| The Editorial Team of News & Events joins the entire Vidya fraternity in extending hearty congratulations to Dr.Abhilasha and Nandha on this remarkable accomplishment that enhances institution’s research profile and inspiries students and faculty to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of sustainable and resilient Civil Engineering practices !!! |
