Civil Engineering team showcases research excellence at SECON ’26

The Department of Civil Engineering successfully evaluated enhanced coagulation methods as a practical engineering solution to address algal bloom occurrences and improve overall water quality in the Malampuzha Dam.

The Department  is delighted to announce that Ms. Chithra M (Asst Prof, CE Dept) along with B.Tech project students Adharsh S.(S7, CE Dept), Anand Krishna T. M (S7, CE Dept) and Sreethu P. M (S7, CE Dept) successfully presented their research paper titled “Investigation and Treatment of Algal Blooms in Malampuzha Dam through Enhanced Coagulation Methods” at the International Conference on Structural Engineering and Construction Management 2026 (SECON 2026), organized by the Federal Institute of Science and Technology (FISAT) on 04 June 2026.

Focusing on evaluating enhanced coagulation methods to tackle algal blooms and improve water quality in the Malampuzha Dam, the paper earned widespread appreciation from academicians for its practical approach to a pressing environmental challenge.

In recognition of its high quality and relevance, the research has been selected for publication in Springer Nature’s prestigious Lecture Notes in Civil Engineering book series.
