Project ‘Phoenix’ : An NSS Initiative to restore and rebuild infrastructure
As part of the NSS initiative Phoenix, a dedicated one-day maintenance and service program was successfully conducted at Friends of Jesus Bhavanam, Gagultha on 13th June 2026 with the wholehearted participation of NSS volunteers under the guidance of our NSS Program Officers.
The primary objective of this effort was to support the institution by restoring the functionality of essential equipment, improving the living environment, and extending compassionate voluntary service to reduce the institution’s ongoing maintenance burden while instilling social responsibility and teamwork among the students. Key tasks completed during the drive included the repair and servicing of wheelchairs, the alignment and repair of inmates’ beds and cots, as well as general cleaning and systematic arrangement of equipment.
Major Tasks Completed
-
Wheelchair Maintenance: Complete repair and servicing of institutional wheelchairs.
-
Furniture Restoration: Structural repair and alignment of inmates’ beds and cots.
-
General Maintenance: Facility-wide cleaning and systematic rearrangement of essential equipment.
The smooth and efficient execution of the activity was driven by the enthusiastic leadership of NSS Volunteer Secretaries Godwin C. Baiju (S6, ME Dept) and Anamika Sebastian (S6, ECE Dept), alongside the effective coordination of Mr. Ranjith E. R (NSS Program Officer, Asst Prof, ME Dept) and Mr. Rajesh S. K.
