Vidya conducts ISTE-Sponsored Faculty Development Programme on Universal Human Values
The Universal Human Values (UHV) Cell of Vidya Academy of Science and Technology is committed to fostering ethical values, social responsibility, and the holistic development of students by promoting the principles of Universal Human Values. Through value-based education, awareness programmes, workshops, and interactive sessions, the Cell strives to nurture responsible, compassionate, and socially conscious individuals, empowering them to lead harmonious, value-driven personal and professional lives while contributing positively to society.
The UHV Cell, in association with the ISTE VAST Chapter, successfully organized a five-day ISTE-sponsored Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Universal Human Values: A Comprehensive Understanding of Human Being, Nature, and Existence” from 27 to 31 July 2026. The programme was conducted online daily from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. through Google Meet.
The FDP aimed to provide faculty members with a holistic und?erstanding of human values, harmonious living, and the interrelationship between the individual, society, nature, and existence. The programme served as an excellent platform for reflection, dialogue, and value-based learning.
The sessions were led by distinguished resource persons Mr. Alex Chacko (Motivational Speaker and Research Scholar, GEC Thrissur) and Ms. Asha Suresh ( who delivered insightful presentations and facilitated engaging discussions throughout the five days. Their expertise and interactive approach enabled participants to explore the philosophy of Universal Human Values and its relevance in higher education.
The valedictory function was graced by Dr. Swapnakumar (Asst Prof, ECE Dept). who delivered the valedictory address. Dr. Premanand B. (Prof & HoD, ECE Dept) also addressed the participants with an inspiring session highlighting the significance of value-based education in shaping responsible professionals.
The programme witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 156 faculty members from engineering colleges and higher education institutions across Kerala and other states, making it a vibrant and enriching learning experience. Active participation, thoughtful discussions, and collaborative interactions greatly contributed to the success of the FDP. Dr. Sunitha C.(Principal) provided her constant guidance and wholehearted support, which played a vital role in the successful conduct of the FDP.Dr Jiby Jose (Prof, AS Dept) and Ms Akhila R (Asst Prof – Sr Grade,EEE Dept) coordinated the entire sessions.
Mr. Sarath Babu R.(Asst Prof – Seln Grade,ME Dept), Mr. Arun Xavier (Asst Prof – Sr Grade,EEE Dept) , Mr. Santumon S. D.(Asst Prof,ECE Dept), Ms. Salkala K. S.(Asst Prof – Sr Grade,MCA Dept) Ms. Anagha Abhilash (Asst Prof, CSE Dept), and Mr. Naveen T. P. (Asst Prof,,ME Dept) provided their valuable support through meticulous planning, wholehearted commitment and dedicated efforts, which contributed significantly to the successful coordination and execution of the programme.
The FDP concluded on a positive note with participants expressing their appreciation for the insightful sessions and the opportunity to deepen their understanding of Universal Human Values. The programme reaffirmed Vidya’s commitment to promoting value-based education and nurturing educators who can inspire students to lead meaningful, ethical, and socially responsible lives.
