Fond remembrances of a visionary educationist : Dr. D. Balakrishnan
| A visionary leader with a deep commitment to education, late Dr D Balakrishnan (Founder Academic Director), devoted his life to the growth and development of Vidya.With his far-sighted vision, determination and unwavering commitment, he played a pivotal role in shaping the institution and guiding it towards academic excellence. Since the inception of Vidya in 2003, he remained deeply committed to achieving the institution’s goals and nurturing a culture of excellence. He passed away on 16 August 2010, leaving behind a remarkable legacy that continues to inspire generations. |
| As a mark of respect and remembrance, Vidya organised a solemn tribute to late Dr. D. Balakrishnan on 17 August 2026 at the main lobby of the college. The programme began with floral tributes offered before his portrait.The atmosphere reflected a deep sense of respect, gratitude and affection for a leader whose contributions remain an integral part of Vidya’s journey. |
| Dr. B. Premanand (HoD, ECE Dept) welcomed the gathering and set the tone for the programme by highlighting the significance of remembering Dr. Balakrishnan and the values he upheld throughout his life.Even though they did not work closely together, Dr. Shalij P. R. (Director – Academics) fondly remembered late Dr. D. Balakrishnan and spoke with great respect and admiration for his academic excellence and professional stature.He spoke with great admiration about Dr. Balakrishnan’s exceptional academic prowess and his remarkable ability to handle and teach a wide range of subjects beyond his own area of specialisation during his tenure at Government Engineering College, Thrissur.Dr. Shalij also highlighted Dr. Balakrishnan’s remarkable versatility as an educator and his passion for sharing knowledge. His ability to take up unfamiliar subjects and deliver them with the same level of confidence and competence was a testament to his intellectual curiosity. |
