Launching Ceremony of the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) Student Chapter by CE Dept

The Department of Civil Engineering promotes awareness of green building concepts, sustainable construction practices, and environmentally responsible engineering among civil engineering students

The launching ceremony of the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) Student Chapter was organized on 14 September 2026 at Pranavam Auditorium. The programme commenced with a prayer by Yamini Vijayan (S7,CE Dept) followed by the welcome address delivered by Dr. Khadeeja Priyan (Prof, CE Dept).Dr. Abhilasha P. S. (Prof, HoD, CE Dept) introduced the department and the chief guest, while Dr. Sunitha C. (Principal) delivered the presidential address. The inaugural address was delivered by Ar. Kukku Joseph Jose (Founder and CEO – NOW Architecture Firm and Associate Professor at ASADI)

The event was felicitated by Mr. Suresh Lal (Executive Director, VICT) and Dr. Premanand B. (Prof, HoD, ECE Dept). Following the inaugural ceremony, a keynote session and interactive programme commenced at 11:30 AM. Dharsana M. J. (S7,CE Dept) introduced the resource person, Ar. Kukku Joseph Jose, who delivered a session on “Green Building & Education – An Overview & Their Benefits” highlighting the importance of green buildings and their role in promoting sustainable development. An interactive session conducted by IGBC team members provided students with an opportunity to explore green building concepts and engage in discussions on sustainable construction practices. The programme also included a feedback session.

The event concluded with remarks by Mr. Kiran Babu A. R.(Asst Prof,CE Dept) followed by the vote of thanks delivered by Yamini Vijayan. The launch of the IGBC Student Chapter marks a significant step towards promoting sustainability awareness,
