Three resource persons from Vidya for a FDP at MEA Engg College, Perinthalmanna

Three faculty members of Vidya – Dr Sudha Balagopalan (Dean-Academics), Mr Alex Chacko C (AP, ME Dept) and Mr Arun Xavier (AP, EEE Dept) – served as resource persons for a three-day Faculty Development Programme conducted by the Civil Engineering Department of MEA Engineering College, Perinthalmanna, during 4 – 7 January 2019.

Day 1 – Mr Alex Chacko C on Flipped Classroom and Moodle

A flipped classroom is an instructional strategy and a type of blended learning that reverses the traditional learning environment by delivering instructional content, often online, outside of the classroom. It moves activities, including those that may have traditionally been considered homework, into the classroom.

Moodle is a free and open-source learning management system written in PHP and distributed under the GNU General Public License.

Day 2 – Dr Sudha Balagopalan on Research Funding

Research comprises “creative and systematic work undertaken to increase the stock of knowledge, including knowledge of humans, culture and society, and the use of this stock of knowledge to devise new applications.”

Day 3 – Mr Arun Xavier on LaTeX

LaTeX is a high-quality typesetting system; it includes features designed for the production of technical and scientific documentation. LaTeX is the de facto standard for the communication and publication of scientific documents. LaTeX is available as free software.
