National Science Day (AION 2024 : Science Fest) Celebration

National Science Day is celebrated in India on 28 of February every year in order to commemorate the invention of the Raman Effect by the great physicist, Shri Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman. National Science Day theme in the year 2024 is “Indigenous Technologies for Viksit Bharat”. The  Dept of Applied Sciences and Humanities,Vidya Academy of Science and Technology, Thrissur celebrated NSD (AION-2024:Science-Fest) in association with IQAC,IE & ISTE VAST chapter on 28 February 2024.

The programme was organized for first year B Tech students. Dr Jiby Jose (Professor,HOD, AS Dept) welcomed the gathering. The program was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by Dr Saji C B (Principal).

Dr Sudha Balagopalan (Dean Academics), Dr Sunitha C (Vice Principal)  Heads of various departments, Faculty members, Staff and Students also joined. In the inaugural address, the Principal highlighted the achievements of Indian scientists in addressing the problems through indigenously developed solutions for space and defence applications.

Dr Sudha Balagopalan (Dean Academics) delivered a highly motivational talk on the focal theme of “Indigenous Technologies for Viksit Bharat”. Madam emphasised on the need for green building techniques and practices, renewable energy systems, waste management and the like for fostering sustainable development. Dr Sunitha felicitated the function. Poster and Paper Presentation competitions for first year B.Tech students based on the theme was also conducted. Prizes were distributed for the winners. Dr Sobha A P (Convener – AION 2024, Prof, AS Dept) proposed vote of thanks.
