In order to get the practical knowledge about Advanced technology used in manufacture of coconut oil , the first destination was to Copra Industry at Palani, Tamil Nadu. The purpose of the visit was to learn about the technical side of extracting oil and related activities, especially the instrumentations used. Students were asked to identify the sensors and mechanisms involved in the process. The process involved continuous sterilization, threshing, digestion, pressing, clarification, depericarping, nut drying, oil drying and oil storage. Three types of sensors namely heat sensors which maintain 100-degree temperature, hydraulic sensors to check the condition of the conveyer, and sensors used to control the amount of coconut bunches. Many control machineries were introduced to us and the importance of safety equipment were also explained.
Students explored the places like Kodaikanal Ramakkalmedu, Aamapara , Kuravan Kurathi statue, Cumbum Theni etc During the entire trip, the curious minds were able to discover new possibilities and learn a bit every passing minute. They molded themselves into individuals who are willing to work under any circumstances as they were getting their share of experience of coordination and team building .
