CSE Dept represents at IEEE CCET SPC-2025 with research paper presentation
Vidya serves as a platform for aspiring engineers to present impactful and innovative technical projects.
The Dept of CSE is proud to announce the successful presentation of a research paper titled “Predicting Smartphone Dependency – A Machine Learning Perspective” at the IEEE CCET Students’ Project Competition (SPC-2025). The event was held on 27 March 2025, and was organized by the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, CCET, Alappuzha, in association with IEEE Kochi Subsection and IEEE PES Kerala Chapter. Manasa (S6,CSE Dept), Rithu Mary Varghese (S6,CSE Dept), Mithra Jayapal (S6,CSE Dept) and Siya Nesrin V A (S6,CSE Dept) under the guidance of Ms. Remya K R (Asst Prof, CSE Dept) successfully presented the research paper.
The presented project focused on predicting smartphone addiction using machine learning and comparing the effectiveness of two widely used classification algorithms — Decision Tree and Random Forest. The system analyzes user responses related to smartphone usage behavior and psychological aspects such as stress and anxiety, in order to classify individuals as “Addicted” or “Not Addicted.
Participation in IEEE CCET SPC-2025 was a commendable achievement for the students and a reflection of their research aptitude, teamwork, and commitment to innovation in the field of computer science.
The Editorial Team of News & Events joins the entire Vidya fraternity in extending heartiest congratulation to Ms Remya, Manasa, Rithu, Mithra and Siya on the successful presentation that showcases innovative projects addressing the growing issue of smartphone addiction through the application of machine learning techniques !!! |
