IEEE VAST (SB) hosts an insightful technical session by a German expert on IoT, 5G, and Embedded AI
IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) is the world’s largest technical professional organization, comprising engineers, scientists, and technology professionals across the globe. IEEE focuses on advancing technological innovation and excellence in key engineering and scientific domains. It plays a vital role in developing standards that are adopted at national and international levels through the IEEE Standards Association (IEEE SA), which formulates global standards for industries such as power and energy, artificial intelligence, and consumer electronics. In addition, IEEE publishes a wide range of highly cited journals, conferences, and technical literature, making it a leading source of cutting-edge research and technological advancements worldwide.
The IEEE Student Branch of Vidya Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) successfully organized an IEEE technical seminar titled A Technical Session by a German Expert on 19 December 2025 in offline mod. The programme was conducted for S6 students of ECE, CSE, and AIML branches, along with IEEE student members, with a total participation of around 300+ students. The primary objective of the seminar was to provide technical awareness and industry exposure in emerging domains such as IoT, 5G, and Embedded Artificial Intelligence, while also motivating students to actively engage with IEEE resources and activities.
The event comprised two sessions:
Session 1 – Connecting Everything: IoT, 5G & Embedded AI
Session 2 – Opportunities for Study & Work in Germany.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Ms. Jemy Jose Kakkassery (Asst Prof, ECE Dept). The technical session was led by Mr. Dominik Welte (Senior Software Architect, IICT GmbH, Germany) who provided in-depth insights into current industrial developments, real-world use cases, and global trends in IoT, 5G, and Embedded AI. He also introduced students to various IEEE resources that could be effectively utilized to enhance their academic and professional growth.
The session included a detailed presentation of industry-oriented projects and concluded with an interactive question-and-answer segment. The second session focused on academic and professional opportunities in Germany and was delivered by Mr. Shone Jose (COO,IICT India) while Ms. Bhanu Priya (Application Engineer, IICT India) explained the current working environment and opportunities at IICT. Mr. Abhiram M S (Marketing Executive,IICT India) also witnessed the session.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Mohammed Hashim (Student Counsellor, IEEE VAST, S3, ME Dept). The seminar was highly informative and effective in enhancing students’ technical knowledge, global career awareness, and interest in IEEE activities.Mr. Santumon S D (IEEE Faculty Counsellor, VAST,Asst Prof, ECE Dept) co ordinated event.
