Insights, Inspiration and Industry Exposure from Alumni

Vidya offers students valuable insights into real-world industry practices and career opportunities through interactions with accomplished alumni.

With the aim of motivating students to develop relevant technical skills, explore diverse career paths, and understand the importance of networking and continuous learning, an alumni interaction session was conducted under the auspices of AVA.. Ms Fetsy K Francis (Asst Prof – Sr Grade, ECE Dept) introduced the alumni speakers and coordinated the session effectively, facilitating seamless interaction and ensuring the smooth conduct of the programme.

The alumni interaction session featured five distinguished alumni from the ECE department. Mr. Sandeep N. L. (Assistant Engineering Manager at Exctel Engineering, 2005-09 batch ECE Dept) shared his professional experiences from Kochi and the UAE. Ms. Deepthi Divakar (QA Engineer at Smartwyre ,United Kingdom,2005-09 batch ECE Dept) discussed quality assurance practices and career opportunities abroad. Ms. Tisa Sonny (Software Engineer,Alignminds Technologies, Kochi, 2005-09 batch ECE Dept) spoke about software development roles and industry expectations. Mr. Ajith Ashokan (Senior System Analyst at Pharmatrade, Dubai, 2005-09 batch ECE Dept) provided insights into system analysis and career growth in the Middle East. In addition, Ms. Priya P (Digital Marketing Analyst at VHI, Ireland,2005-09 batch ECE Dept)  shared her journey in the digital marketing domain and highlighted emerging opportunities beyond core engineering roles.

An interactive Q&A session followed, during which students actively engaged with the alumni. Questions focused on career growth strategies, essential technical and soft skills, higher education and job opportunities abroad, and the importance of networking. The alumni offered practical advice, encouraging students to build strong skill sets, seek mentorship, and remain proactive in career planning.

The alumni speakers shared their professional journeys, detailing their transition from academic life to industry roles. They reflected on how their time at Vidya played a significant role in building their technical foundation, professional discipline, and problem-solving skills. Their experiences highlighted the importance of adaptability and continuous learning in a rapidly evolving tech landscape.Ms Fetsy K Francis (Asst Prof – Sr Grade, ECE Dept) effectively coordinated the session, promoted active student engagement and facilitated the interactive discussion, ensuring the smooth and successful conduct of the programme.
