Disaster Management Training & Mock Drill to build a Safer Campus
With the aim of creating awareness among students and staff about emergency response procedures, and equipping them with practical knowledge and skills to handle various disaster situations effectively, the Disaster Management Training and Mock Drill were conducted at the Auditorium and Decennial Block Ground on 07 January 2026.
Dr. Sunitha C (Principal) in her address highlighted the significance of the Disaster Management Training and Mock Drill as essential steps toward creating a safer campus environment. Mr. C.S. Gopalakrishnan (Technical Assistant to the Executive Director, Construction Wing) explained the necessity of the training and emphasized its goal of equipping students, faculty, and staff with the knowledge and skills needed to respond effectively in emergency situations.
The sessions were technically led by Mr. Anvar (Senior Fire & Rescue Officer) and Mr. Navas (Fire & Rescue Officer, from Kunnamkulam Fire & Rescue Station). Mr. Benny (Station Officer, Fire & Rescue, Kunnamkulam) also extended his timely support and reaffirmed a strong commitment to community safety.The training was highly informative and engaging, with a total of 205 participants, including students from all disciplines, faculty members, lab staff, security staff, housekeeping staff and bus staff.
The participants actively took part in both the theoretical sessions and practical demonstrations. The program covered important topics such as handling various types of fire extinguishers, managing cooking gas leaks and fire incidents, first aid measures for choking and drowning, response to road accidents, management of electric shock cases, CPR techniques, and treatment of burns. Live demonstrations provided hands-on experience, enhancing the participants’ confidence and preparedness to respond during emergencies.
The mock drill was organized under the dynamic leadership of Mr. C.S. Gopalakrishnan (Technical Assistant to the Executive Director, Construction Wing) who meticulously coordinated and ensured complete support for the program
