EEE Alumni interactive session on Career Opportunities in Dubai and Sriperumbudur Industrial Hub
The session was led by distinguished alumni Mr Rahul M A (Assistant Manager at Goodwill T R LLC, Dubai, UAE, 2016–2020 batch,EEE Dept) and Mr Vimal S Menon (Service Engineer,Sree Abhirami Engineering Works, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, 2016–2020 batch,EEE Dept)
The resource persons were formally introduced by Krishnakumar. During the session, Rahul shared valuable insights into the growing demand for electrical engineers in Dubai, elaborating on industry expectations, necessary certifications, workplace culture, and technical competencies required to secure placements in reputed companies. He emphasized that strong academic fundamentals combined with practical exposure significantly enhance employability in the international job market.
Vimal highlighted the expanding career opportunities available in the Sriperumbudur Industrial Hub, a major manufacturing and industrial center near Chennai. He explained that industries in this region actively seek graduates who possess strong hands-on skills, troubleshooting abilities, and industry-oriented training.
Both alumni emphasized the importance of add-on certification courses such as CADD, AutoCAD Electrical, E-Plan, and MEP design, noting that expertise in electrical drafting and design software plays a vital role in securing well-paid jobs, particularly in Dubai where MEP coordination and electrical design documentation are highly valued. Students were encouraged to pursue such specialized training alongside their degree to gain a competitive advantage in the job market.
They also advised students to clear their supplementary examinations at the earliest, as academic consistency remains a key criterion for recruitment in both domestic and international organizations.
The session was highly interactive, with students actively engaging in discussions and clarifying their doubts regarding skill development, certification courses, and industry expectations.
The programme was effectively coordinated by Ms. Sheeja G (Alumni Co-ordinator, Asst. Prof, EEE Dept). Dr. Mary P. Varghese (HoD, EEE Dept) along with the tutors of both batches, extended their wholehearted support for the successful conduct of the session.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Sheeja, expressing sincere gratitude to the alumni for their valuable guidance and continued support to the department.
