Blood Donation Camp by NSS Units of Vidya
To encourage a culture of voluntary blood donation and instill humanitarian values, the National Service Scheme (NSS) Units of Vidya Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) successfully organised a Blood Donation Camp on 26 February 2026.The initiative demonstrated a strong commitment to community service and social responsibility and was conducted in collaboration with Government Medical College, Thrissur. The programme received an overwhelming and enthusiastic response from the college community.
The camp was held within the college premises, ensuring a safe, hygienic and well-equipped environment for all participants. The medical team from Government Medical College, Thrissur, provided professional support throughout the programme, including donor screening, blood collection, and post-donation care. Their expertise ensured that the entire process was carried out smoothly and efficiently.
A total of 134 units of blood were collected during the camp, marking a significant achievement. The donors included students, faculty members, non-teaching staff, and other members of the institution, all of whom participated with a strong sense of discipline and altruism. The orderly conduct of the camp and the cooperative spirit of the participants contributed greatly to its success.
The programme was effectively co-ordinated by the NSS Rudhirasena Coordinators: Jithisha U J (S6, CSE Dept), C D Adithyan (S6, AIML Dept), Hashim Hameed (S6, EEE Dept), Abhinav Sarathy (S6,ECE Dept), Daya Rose (S6, CSE Dept), Niranjan Agnivesh (S5, ME Dept), Rashmi V R (S6, ECE Dept) and Aleena Peter (S6,ECE Dept).Their systematic planning, efficient volunteer management, and coordination with the medical team ensured the smooth execution of all activities.
They were ably supported by the Volunteer Secretaries and NSS volunteers, who played a vital role in registration, crowd management, and donor care. Their dedication and teamwork were instrumental in maintaining discipline and ensuring the comfort of all participants.
The event was conducted under the guidance of Mr. Ranjith E. R.(NSS Program Officer, Asst Prof, ME Dept), Mr. Rajesh S K (NSS Program Officer, Asso Prof, EEE Dept) and Ms. Delmy David V (NSS Program Officer, Asst Prof, CSE Dept). Their constant support, supervision and encouragement were key factors in the successful execution of the camp.
In conclusion, the Blood Donation Camp was a grand success, reflecting the humanitarian values and social commitment upheld by the NSS Units of VAST. The programme not only contributed significantly to the healthcare system but also fostered a spirit of service and compassion among the participants.
