AI-Driven Innovation in Road Safety: Civil Engineering Students shine at Bharat Nav Nirman Challenge 2026
The Department of Civil Engineering encourages students to apply innovative and AI-driven solutions to real-world challenges in road safety and traffic management, while enhancing their analytical, technical and presentation skills through competitive exposure.
A team of B.Tech Civil Engineering students (2023 batch)-Dharsana M. J (S6,CE Dept), Celin K. Jose (S6,CE Dept) and Srivya E. S(S6,CE Dept).-under the guidance of Dr. Abhilasha P. S. (Prof, HoD, CE Dept) actively participated in the City Round of the Bharat Nav Nirman Challenge 2026. The event was organized by The Times of India in association with NICMAR University and was held on 07 March 2026 at A.J. Hall, Kaloor, Ernakulam. The competition witnessed participation from nearly 30 engineering colleges across Kerala.
The team presented their innovative project titled “Reducing Road Accidents and Traffic Using AI-Based Policy” which focuses on leveraging artificial intelligence to enhance road safety and optimize traffic management systems.
The presentation was evaluated by a distinguished jury panel comprising Mr. Ajith A. (General Manager, Procurement & Corporate Planning, Kochi Metro Rail Limited), Mr. Anson T. (Director, Mercadia Projects, Angamaly) and Mr. Vishnu Namboothiri (Professor, NICMAR University, Hyderabad). Their expert insights and constructive feedback significantly enriched the team’s learning experience.
The event provided an excellent platform for exposure, innovation, and the showcasing of students’ technical capabilities, marking it as a valuable and enriching experience for the participants.
