‘Maanas Gramam’: NSS community survey on Family and Women Welfare
As part of the National Service Scheme (NSS) activities, Vidya Academy of Science and Technology NSS volunteers conducted the ‘Maanas Gramam’ survey at Velur Panchayath on 02-03 January 2026. The Maanas Gramam survey is a structured initiative aimed at collecting general information about families in a selected locality, with special emphasis on women and family-related aspects. The survey focused on gathering details regarding the social, educational, and health status of women, along with essential household information to support community-level analysis and welfare-oriented planning.
A total of 25 NSS volunteers actively participated in the programme. The survey was carried out systematically through door-to-door interactions with residents of the Panchayath. Volunteers ensured responsible data collection while maintaining courteous communication with the local community.
The programme was effectively coordinated by the NSS Volunteer Secretaries: Harikrishnan K (S6 ME), Alanteena C A (S6 EEE), Godwin C Baiju (S6 ME), Sonu Sunny (S6 ME), Rashmi V R (S6 ECE), Manu (S6 EEE), Niranjan Agnivesh (S6 ME), and Anamika Sebastian (S6 ECE). Their dedicated leadership ensured smooth execution, proper distribution of responsibilities, and strong teamwork throughout the programme.
The event was conducted under the guidance of Mr. Rajesh S K (NSS Programme Officer,Asso Prof, EEE Dept) and Ms. Delmy David V (NSS Programme Officer, Asst Prof, CSE Dept) .Their support and supervision contributed significantly to the successful completion of the survey.
The Maanas Gramam survey programme provided NSS volunteers with valuable exposure to community engagement, social data collection, and teamwork. At the same time, the initiative contributed meaningful insights that can aid in understanding family structures and women-related issues at the grassroots level, thereby aligning with the core objectives of the National Service Scheme.
