EEE faculty member and students achieve innovative research publication in International Journal

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering faculty members and students take immense effort to uphold and highlight their dedication towards academic excellence, innovative thinking and research-oriented learning.

The Department proudly highlights that Albin Babu (S8, EEE Dept), Anjo K A (S8, EEE Dept), Arjun P (S8, EEE Dept) and Arun Mohandas (S8, EEE Dept) along with Dr. Mary P. Varghese (Prof, HoD, EEE Dept) and  Ms. Akhila R (Asst Prof – Sr Grade,EEE  Dept) have successfully published their research paper titled “Voice Controlled Wheel Chair” in theInternational Journal of Innovative Research in Technology, Volume 12, Issue 8 (ISSN: 2349-6002).

The project presents an innovative Voice-Controlled Wheelchair designed to enhance mobility and independence for individuals with physical disabilities. The system utilizes Raspberry Pi 4 for voice recognition and Arduino Nano for motor control, enabling users to navigate the wheelchair using simple voice commands such as “Forward,” “Reverse,” “Left,” “Right,” and “Stop.”

The developed system achieved an impressive command recognition accuracy of around 96% in quiet environments and 85% in noisy environments, with a rapid response time of approximately 0.8 seconds and efficient battery backup of nearly 3.5 hours per charge.

This research highlights the students’ technical excellence in embedded systems, AI-assisted voice processing, and assistive mobility technologies. The project also opens pathways for future advancements including AI-based adaptive control, IoT-enabled remote monitoring and advanced power management systems.

The Editorial Team of News & Events joins the entire Vidya fraternity in extending hearty appreciation to Dr. Mary, Ms. Akhila,Albin,Anjo, Arjun and Arun on this  commendable millstone recognizing their research publication as a valuable contribution towards advancements that enhance accessibility and independent mobility for individuals with disabilities !!!
