VAST and IISH Sign MoU to Advance AI-Driven Heritage Research

Vidya aims to foster academic, research, and technical collaboration in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Digital Heritage, and Knowledge Systems, with a special focus on applying modern AI technologies for the preservation, digitization, and dissemination of India’s scientific and cultural heritage. Vidya Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), Thrissur and Indian Institute of Scientific Heritage (IISH), Mazhuvanchery, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote academic, research, and technical collaboration in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Digital Heritage, and Knowledge Systems. The MoU was signed by Dr Sunitha C (Principal)and Mr. N. C. T. Rajagopal (Managing Trustee, Indian Institute of Scientific Heritage (IISH) Trust, Mazhuvanchery). The agreement establishes a framework for joint research, student internships, faculty collaboration, expert lectures, workshops, Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs), conferences, collaborative publications, and the development of intelligent digital repositories and knowledge platforms. The collaboration was initiated by Mr. Nisanth P. (Asst Prof, AIML Dept) with the objective of exploring the application of Artificial Intelligence in the preservation, digitization, and dissemination of India’s scientific and cultural heritage. The initiative subsequently gained momentum through discussions and coordination with Sri. N. Hareendran Nair (Manager, Bharatheeya Vidya Vihar School) and Dr. Jeeva K. A. (Prof & HoD , AIML Dept) whose support and guidance were instrumental in shaping the partnership. The collaboration seeks to bridge modern AI technologies with traditional knowledge systems, opening new avenues for interdisciplinary research, innovation, and heritage preservation. Through this partnership, both institutions aim to create meaningful opportunities for students, researchers, and faculty members while contributing to the scientific study and digital preservation of India’s rich heritage. The MoU signing ceremony was witnessed by Mr. N. Hareendran Nair and Dr. Jeeva K. A. marking the formal beginning of a collaborative journey between the two institutions.
