EEE Alumni Interaction : Learning beyond the classroom

Reaffirming the department’s commitment to strengthening the connection between academia and the professional world, the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE) makes continuous efforts to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications. The department organised an Alumni Interaction Programme for second-year EEE students on 03 September 2026.

The interaction featured distinguished alumni Mr. Akshay Krishna A. R., (Entrepreneur, Travel Agency,2017–2021 batch,EEE Dept) and Mr. Akhil R. Krishna, Business, 2017–2021 batch,EEE Dept). Drawing from their academic experiences and professional journeys, the alumni shared valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities that students may encounter during their transition from college to the professional world.

A major focus of the session was the importance of perseverance in overcoming academic challenges. The alumni candidly spoke about the highs and lows of their college years and encouraged students not to lose confidence because of academic setbacks, including supplementary examinations. They emphasised that backlogs need not determine one’s future and advised students to clear them at the earliest while maintaining a positive outlook and continuing to work towards their goals.

The alumni also highlighted the importance of academic performance, discipline and avoiding distractions as essential foundations for long-term career development. At the same time, they encouraged students to make effective use of their college years by participating in extracurricular activities and developing essential communication, teamwork and leadership skills alongside technical knowledge.

Sharing their experiences as KTU graduates, the alumni offered students a realistic perspective on the transition from campus life to professional life. Their experiences underscored the value of adaptability, resilience, continuous learning and self-improvement in navigating an evolving career landscape.

The session also had a nostalgic dimension as the alumni reminisced about their college days, sharing simple yet memorable experiences from student life. Their recollections, including memories of sitting by the classroom window, created a warm and relatable atmosphere and helped establish a meaningful connection with the present batch of students.

Ms. Sheeja G. (Alumni Coordinator & Asst Prof, EEE Dept) formally introduced the resource persons and welcomed the alumni. The interactive format provided students with an opportunity to engage directly with the alumni, seek career-related guidance, and gain motivation from authentic real-world experiences.
