Semester flag off meeting
The Semester Flag Off Meeting was a meeting of all staff of the College held in the College Auditorium at 10.30 am on 30 July 2018 to discuss how the various academic activities of the new academic year could be planned effectively to produce the best possible results. It was also an occasion to set goals, to explore ways for taking Vidya to the next higher level, and to assimilate the ideas presented by the management through the vision document known as Vidya Growth Plan 2020.
Dr V N Krishnachandran, Vice-Principal, extended a formal welcome to all participants.
Dr Saji C B, Principal, in his 75-minutes long speech, gave a detailed description of the various academic activities to be completed during the semester, how these activities could be planned and executed and how working on the sentiments of students the teachers could induce them to perform better in the recruitment drives. One major theme he emphasised was the necessity of making the students aware of the implications of securing a job offer while still in the campus whether they were going to take the job or not later after completion of studies.
Dr Sudha Balagopalan, Dean – Academics, also spoke on the occasion. She presented her views and vision on improving the research culture in the College. She exhorted every teacher to pursue funded projects as they are essential for the survival of the institution in the coming years.
Er G Mohanachandran, Executive Director, also spoke on the occasion. He congratulated all who helped make a successful admission campaign but cautioned that much more needs to be done to bring in better quality students. Mr Suresh Lal, Finance Director, also spoke.
The programme was concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms Divya Radhakrishnan (AP, Humanities Dept).
