FOSSers of Vidya attend Aaron Swartz Day celebrations

Aaron Swartz Day is commemorated around the world between November 8-10. The days are used by hackers around the world to promote open access, knowledge sharing and make the public aware about its importance.

Who is Aaron Swartz?

Aaron Hillel Swartz (November 8, 1986 – January 11, 2013) was an American computer programmer, entrepreneur, writer, political organizer, and Internet hacktivist. He was involved in the development of the web feed format RSS, the Markdown publishing format, the organization Creative Commons, and the website framework web.py, and was a co-founder of the social news site Reddit. As part of Aaron Swartz Day, Free Software Users Group, Thrissur (FSUG Thrissur) conducted an OpenStreetMap mapathon on 9 November 2019 at PG Centre, Thrissur. The event was led by Manoj K, alumnus of  ME Dept of Vidya, who is also one of the coordinators of OpenStreetMap (OSM) Kerala community. The mapathon focused on mapping district roads. Four students from FOSSers Club, Vidya, attended the event :
