Students of SNVB School, Kodaly, attend workshop on AI and LED Star Assembly

As a part of creating awareness and basic understanding about the recent trends in science and technology, Vidya organised a one day workshop on artificial intelligence, basics of internet usage and a hands-on session in LED Star Assembly on 18 January 2020. As many as 57 students of classes 9 and 10 from SNVB School, Kodaly in Thrissur district participated in the programme. The program was coordinated jointly by D. Suneesh E (AP, PE Dept.) and Mr Madhu Kottickal (ME Dept.).

Inauguration

The inaugural ceremony of the programme was held at 9.30 AM in the Computer Centre. Dr Saji C B, Principal, welcomed everyone to the session. Er G Mohanachandran, Executive Director, VICT, presided over the function. Dr Ramachandra N, (HOD, ME Dept), Mr Alex Chacko C (AP, ME Dept) and Mr Madhu Kottickal (ME Dept) were also present during the inaugural ceremony.

Session Details

The first session of the program was conducted by the experts from Vidya Skill Centre, Mr Shibin P V (EEE Dept), Ms Jeeja K R and Ms Shegi Prakash (ECE Dept). They handled hands-on sessions on LED Star and LED Bulb Assembly in the Basic Electronics Laboratory as well as in the Digital Communications Laboratory. It was a really entertaining and useful session for the students and the session came to an end at 12.45 PM.

The second session (2.00 PM to 2.30 PM) was handled by Mr Alex Chacko C. In that session, students received an awareness on how to use internet safely and also a basic understanding about Google Drive, the cloud storage service provided by Google.

The final session (2.30 PM to 3.30 PM) was on the topic “Robotics” and the resource person was Mr Vishnu Rach K R (AP, EEE Dept). He conducted a good interactive session with demonstration on Robotic Vehicle.

Conclusion

The students and teachers were provided lunch in the Decennial Block. All the students who participated in the workshop as well as their teachers appreciated the workshop and thanked the organizers for the efforts taken in the conduct of the workshop.
