Developer Students Club VAST conducts 3 Day Web Development Workshop

Google Developer Students Club VAST (GDSC VAST) conducted a three day hands-on web development program during  02-04 December 2022 in hybrid mode. It was a three day session on Web Development for the second, third and fourth year B Tech students, and 36 students attended the program.

The session began with a welcome note by Dr Ramani Bai (HoD, CSE Dept). Gayathri Satheeshkumar (GDSC Lead and S7, BTech CSE Dept) gave a brief introduction about the Developer Students Club, various technologies, and areas that a developer should be aware of and introduced the resource persons. It was followed by an interaction with Ms Mahalakshmy A (Asst Prof, CSE Dept and Faculty Advisor GDSC VAST) about the importance and relevance of web development. The resource persons for the session were Abel John (S7, CSE  Dept and Web Lead GDSC VAST) and Aadithye N (S7 , CSE  Dept and Technical Lead GDSC VAST).

The first session was conducted offline on 2 December 2022 from 9:30 PM to 12: 30 PM in the Systems Lab. Resource persons gave an introduction to the web, client-side rendering, how they serve the users, VS code extensions, managing files in the workplace and then started building a small starter website for a bakery to make the participants familiarize with the basics of HTML and CSS.

The second and third session was conducted online via GMeet on 3 December 2022 and 4 December 2022 from 7 pm to 8.30 pm. On the second day, the team started building a basic website – Marioclub and completed the header and navigation bars. On the third day, the team continued building the website, discussed position properties to reposition elements, finished the navigation bar, content and banner image with the title. Doubts were cleared and discussions were done after the session during the meet. Recordings were posted in the group for the students’ reference. Ms  Treasa T A (Trade Instructor, CSE Dept) extended her full-fledged lab support for the successful conduct of the program. The core team members Mohammed Fahim (S7, CSE Dept and Cyber Lead GDSC VAST), Adithyan VS (S7, CSE Dept and Neha Baju (S5 BTech CSE Dept) were present throughout the sessions to help the participants .
