ECE students enhance their interpersonal skills during Industrial Visit

The Dept of ECE gives students various opportunities to experience the vital role plays in industry and gaining insight into multi-faceted, real-world problems through  various activities.

The fifth semester of ECE  students (BATCH 2020-2024) visited Pallivasal Hydrolectric Project  on 16 December 2022 as part of their industrial visit.

Pallivasal is the first hydro electric power station in Kerala. The project was completed in two stages. In the first stage, a run-off river scheme was initially introduced with three units having capacity of 4.5 MW each. The second stage of development saw addition of three machines of 7.5 MW capacity in the station and construction of two dams for storage of water. Sethuparvathipuram dam at Kundala and Madupetty dam together contributed about 65 MCM of storage.

During the visit the Site Engineer, gave  valuable information about the power plant, transmission and distribution. The resource person pointed out the gap between usage and generation of electricity by analyzing the daily usage statistics of power consumption in Kerala.

As many as 57 students participated in the programme.  The group tutors, Fetsy K Francis (Asst. Prof, ECE Dept) and Sarika K T (Asst Prof, ECE Dept) led the visit. The visit served as an ideal opportunity to practically learn through interaction and working methods of electric power station to the students.

Hearty appreciations to all involved !!!
