Launching ceremony of ‘Eco Revive Tech’ : E-Waste transformation initiative for the children from a slum of Bhubaneshwar

The atmosphere was electric in the new year 2024 that witnessed one of the philanthropic activities of Vidya with the support of likeminded people. The pilot scheme of E-Waste transformation initiative, Eco Revive Tech was launched on 01 January 2024.

The event was also extended helps and support to underprivileged and marginalised children in the slum of Raja Rani Basthi of Bhubaneshwar in Orissa. Mr Santosh Patnaik (founder and Managing Trustee, Aashraa Foundation Odisha) expressed his gratitude and translated the children’s language into English.

The children introduced themselves with the help of Mr Santosh. A short musical program with Odia patriotic poem “Bande Utkala Janani written by Laxmikanta Mohapatra was recited by the children from Aashra. The video prepared by Dr Shalini Das and team was played for launching the program. The performance of Ryan Ajith ( S6, SCMS Engineering College) was a musical treat to the listeners.

Dr Sudha Balagopalan (Dean Academics & Professor, EEE Dept, ISV – South Asia Working Group (ISV SAWG) who has become a flag bearer of this initiative addressed the children and gave motivations to every student. The meeting was thrived with the presence of a range of professionals from different walks of life including that of Dr Rajan Kapur (Presiden,ISV), Prof. Toby Cumberbatch (IEEE ISV African WoGroup Chair and SV Africa Working Group, Education Committee) , Dr Febin Ghaffoor (Medical Professional from Dubai & Oman), Amreen Moideen, Er Thomas Daniel inspired the children with their words of motivation. Dr Sunitha C (Vice Principal, HoD, AIML Dept), Vidya staff members, students, alumni and likeminded people from different all layers of society attended the session and students also attended the session.

The luminaries who spoke on the occasion, appreciated the goal, approach and hard work of ASHRA towards the uplift of the slum children. Ms Nirmala Krishnan (Asst Prof, CE Dept) proposed vote of thanks.
