Big round of applause to Vidya Sports Team on securing the runner-up position at APJ AKTU Inter Collegiate Athletic Meet
Vidya Sports Team with full of fire in their heart and the determination to come with laurels that climbed to the top at APJ AKTU Inter Collegiate Athletic Meet.
The 6th edition of the APJAKTU Inter Collegiate Athletic Meet was held at Sri. Chandrasekharan Nair Police Stadium, Trivandrum during 01-03 March 2024 under the agies of the APJ AKTU. The meet was officially inaugurated by Sri Geromic George IAS (District Collector,Trivandrum). The inaugural session was presided over by Dr Vinu Thomas (Dean Academics APJ AKTU), Dr. Rajesh (E Zone Convene)r, Dr. Praveen (Meet Co Ordinator), Dr. P A Ramesh Kumar (Director Physical Education) and other invited guests and university officials graced the occasion.
Vidya at Meet
The remarkable display of our youngsters witnessed from the day one of the event. A total of 88 institutions and 1270 athletes took part in the 3 days slated, largest and prestigious Sports feast of the Technological University. In the overall point tally our team adjudged second position with 7 gold medals and 4 Bronze medals. In the men category we positioned second place with 4 Gold Medals 2 Bronze Medals In the women category our team secured third position with 2 Gold Medals 2 Bronze Medals In Mixed Category 1 Gold medal There were 8 meet records created in the meet and 5 among them are rewritten in the name of our athletes. The rhythmic and disciplined steps in the March Past brought “The Best Performance Trophy” instituted by the University to ‘Vidya’s’ showcase for the second consecutive year. The opening event of the meet witnessed the creation of a new meet record in 1500 M (Men) by athlete Mr Abin Babu (S4, M.Tech, SE, CE Dept), followed by bronze medals by Mr Nishal Mohammed brought in 400 M (M) in neck and neck fight, made the Inaugural Day eventful for Vidya. |

As many as 25 athletes (8 girls and 17 boys) from Vidya participated in the meet.
In Men Category, Vidya’s team became Runner Up and in Women category Second Runner Up. In the overall point tally our team was adjudged Runner Up with a total of 50 points. Adding another honor to this inspiring event,Ms Arundhathi Sasikumar (Asst Prof, Phy. Edn Dept) secured silver medal in ‘Shot Put’ competition that was held among the APJ AKTU Physical Education faculty members. |

Closing Ceremony
Ms Anusree K P (Indian Inter National Volleyball Player) was the Guest of Honor in the closing ceremony. Dr P A Ramesh Kumar (Director Physical Education APJ AKTU) Dr Deepak Raj (Manager of the Meet), Dr Maneesh Rasheed Zone (Convener) attended the Prize distribution and Closing ceremony.
Vidya was able to achieve this rare achievement as a result of constant efforts of sportsmanship, team work and discipline under the leadership of Mr Ramesh K V (Asso Prof, Phy.Edn Dept) and Ms Arundhathi Sasikumar (Asst Prof, Phy.Edn Dept) along with our team of highly committed students.
