CE Dept organizes Introductory Program: Blueprints & Beyond

With an aim to aim  familiarize newly admitted students with the field of Civil Engineering, an introductory program titled “Blueprints & Beyond was held on 19 August 2024 for the 2024-28 Batch  B. Tech admission.

The event commenced with a solemn prayer to set a positive and focused tone for the day. The attendees were formally welcomed, setting the stage for the day’s proceedings by Ms.Kalyani Vijay Kumar (Asst Prof, CE Dept). Dr. Abhilasha P. S. (Professor HoD, CE Dept) provided an insightful overview of the department, highlighting its objectives, facilities, and the opportunities it offers to students. This session was designed to introduce the new students to the academic environment and the expectations of the department.

Dr. Sunitha C (Principal) addressed the gathering. Her felicitation likely included words of encouragement and the importance of Civil Engineering in shaping the future.

Session I: Basics of Drawing with SketchUp

Mr Renjith R (Asst Prof, CE Dept) conducted the first technical session focused on the basics of drawing using SketchUp. This session introduced students to 3D modeling, a crucial skill for visualizing and designing structures.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the organisers, speakers, and participants for their contributions to the success of the program.

The students were taken on a guided lab visit, by M  Kiran Babu A R, (Asst Prof, CE Dept) , Dr Anjali P S (Asst Prof, CE Dept),Ms Ardra P Nair (Asst Prof, CE Dept),Ms Roshni Vijay (Asst Prof, CE Dept)  with help of lab instructors where they were shown various facilities and laboratories within the department. This visit was intended to give them a hands-on experience and a better understanding of the practical aspects of their coursework.

The “Blueprints & Beyond” introductory program was a comprehensive event that provided new B. Tech Civil Engineering students with an overview of their department, key technical skills, and an opportunity to engage with faculty and peers. This well-structured program set a strong foundation for their upcoming academic journey.
