Honoring Linguistic Talent: Prize Distribution Ceremony of ‘Madhuram Malayalam’ on International Mother Language Day

Vidya celebrated International Mother Language Day with ‘Madhuram Malayalam’, an event that highlighted the richness of linguistic diversity and the depth of our cultural heritage

The vibrant celebration  held on 21 February 2025 aimed at honoring linguistic diversity and cherishing the cultural richness of the Malayalam language. The event featured a series of engaging competitions and cultural activities designed to inspire students to showcase their creative talents and express their deep appreciation for their mother tongue. Students from various departments participated with enthusiasm, reflecting a shared pride in their linguistic heritage.

During the event, insightful talks were presented by Jithisha U J (S4, CSE Dept) on The Importance of the Malayalam Language and Culture shedding light on the profound impact of language on cultural identity and historical context. The event also featured thought-provoking talks by Sinan Sulaiman (S8, ME Dept) on ‘The Role of Language in History and Society,‘ providing in-depth insights into the vital role of language in shaping culture and society.

Another highlight of the event was an engaging debate on the topic, ‘Is the Malayalam Language Receiving Adequate Importance in Our Lives Today?’ where participants passionately discussed the current status of the language in contemporary society.

A prize distribution ceremony was held on 12 March 2025  to felicitate the winners and resource persons. The event started with an appreciation note by Ms Surabhi M S (Co-ordinator – Madhuram Malayalam, Asst Librarian) who praised the students for their exceptional efforts in promoting the value of Malayalam and their contributions to the broader movement of language preservation. The organizers extended heartiest appreciation to all participants, faculty mentors, and volunteers whose dedicated contributions ensured the success of the meaningful event.

The certificates and gifts were  presented  by Dr. Sunitha C (Principal) and appreciated the students for their commendable efforts in preserving our mother tongue’s cultural heritage. Dr Sunitha also presented  the  certificates and to the resource persons (Jithisha U J (S4, CSE Dept)  and Sinan Sulaiman (S8, ME Dept)) in appreciation of their valuable contributions. As a token of appreciation, certificates and gifts were distributed by Dr. Sunitha to all participants of the debate competition  for their enthusiastic participation.

‘Madhuram Malayalam’ not only celebrated the beauty of the language but also reinforced the importance of preserving linguistic traditions in today’s interconnected world.
