Igniting a semester of purpose and progress with the Flag Off Meeting 2025

Reflecting Vidya’s vision of fostering excellence and discipline, the Semester Flag Off Meeting 2023 took place on 05 July 2025, marking the beginning of a semester driven by purpose and progress. 

Delivering the keynote, Dr Sunitha C (Principal) presented a structured overview of the academic and co-curricular agenda for the ongoing odd semester. The Principal congratulated all students for their commendable performance in the recently announced S2 and current S8 results. A special mention was made of the Civil Engineering B Batch for achieving an exemplary 100% result in S8, setting a remarkable academic benchmark for others to follow. 

The Principal extended her heartiest congratulations on the research proposal receiving the maximum KTU Research Seed Money Grant of Rs 2 lakhs, and on the approval of student projects for financial assistance under the Centre for Engineering Research and Development (CERD) of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University. Dr Sunitha underlined the necessity of sticking to deadlines and proposed measures to enhance students’ overall skill sets. She reiterated that the growth of any academic institution lies in its ability to maintain high academic standards while cultivating a dynamic and innovative research culture. Dr Sunitha emphasized the importance of broadening research initiatives by fostering strong partnerships with industry and internships. she also underscored the value of enhancing education through direct add-on courses, developed in collaboration with external academic and professional bodies.

During the meeting, the Principal also announced updates regarding Vidya’s ongoing accreditation processes. Dr Mary P Varghese (HoD, EEE Dept) was named the Institutional Coordinator for NBA, responsible for overseeing the detailed preparations and departmental coordination required for the NBA accreditation process.This year, over 400 students from the 2021–25 batch have been successfully placed in reputed companies across various sectors, including the banking industry. Notable placements in esteemed organizations stand as a testament to their hard work and the quality of education at Vidya. Sincere appreciation was extended to all the dedicated staff members of Vidya for their invaluable guidance and unwavering support, which have played a pivotal role in mentoring students, motivating them to excel, and making this achievement a moment of immense pride and collective joy.

The newly joined staff members introduced themselves during the session, sharing brief insights into their backgrounds and helping everyone become better acquainted.

Mr Suresh Lal (Executive Director,VICT) shared his insights on strategic directions essential for sustaining Vidya’s trajectory of institutional growth and excellence. With clarity and assurance, Ms Akhia R (Asst Prof, EEE Dept) steered the proceedings seamlessly and took on the dual responsibility of delivering both welcome address and vote of thanks.

The Semester Flag Off Meeting emerged as a strong reaffirmation of Vidya’s enduring commitment to continuous improvement, educational innovation, and impactful learning experiences.
