NSS conducts orientation program for Natural Resource Protection Force (NRPF)
The orientation program for the Natural Resource Protection Force (NRPF), a flagship initiative of the KTU NSS Cell, was successfully conducted on 13 June 2025 at the Main Seminar Hall of Vidya Academy of Science and Technology. The session aimed to familiarize newly enrolled NSS volunteers with the objectives, activities, and responsibilities associated with NRPF and its sub-initiatives.
NRPF is one of the flagship programs of KTU NSS, focusing on the protection and conservation of natural resources through structured volunteer engagement. The initiative encourages students to take proactive roles in environmental activities such as afforestation, waste management, water conservation, and sustainability awareness campaigns.
The program commenced with an inspirational rendition of ‘Maanavageetham’, setting a solemn and reflective tone and emphasizing the spirit of selfless service and national commitment welcome address was delivered by Veena T V (S6, ECE Dept), an active NSS volunteer, who warmly greeted the participants and highlighted the importance of NRPF in fostering environmental consciousness and community service.The session was formally inaugurated by Mr. Rajesh S K (NSS Program Officer, Asso Prof, EEE Dept) In his address, he emphasized the relevance of environmental protection and sustainability, and how flagship programs like NRPF equip students with the vision and skills to contribute meaningfully to society.The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks by Mrithyunjay R (NSS Volunteer Secretary,S6, EEE Dept), who expressed gratitude to the coordinators, resource persons, and participants for making the event successful.
The highlight of the day was an informative orientation session by Mr. Thareehul Faris (Regional Coordinator,NRPF). In his interactive presentation, he elaborated on the core components of the NRPF program, particularly key initiatives such as TreeTag and Thanal, and encouraged the volunteers to engage actively and responsibly in environmental protection efforts under these banners.
Following the orientation, an ice-breaking session was conducted to foster camaraderie among the new volunteers. Through fun and collaborative activities, the session helped break down barriers, build teamwork, and instill a strong sense of unity and shared purpose—key values upheld by NSS.
