Online session on Probability Using Sample Data by VSEC
Vidya Social Empowerment Center (VSEC), under the aegis of Vidya International Charitable Trust (VICT), continuously strives to create opportunities that enhance students’ skills and contribute to their holistic personal and professional growth.
An online academic enrichment session titled “Probability in Daily Life – Fun Activities” was conducted on 07 February 2026 from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM by Dr. Siju K. C (Head, VSEC and Asso. Prof, AS Dept).Organized for the scholarship students of the Kovilakath Foundation, the session aimed to strengthen students’ understanding of probability through activity-based and real-life examples.
The programme demonstrated how probability is closely connected to everyday situations and decision-making, rather than being limited to abstract formulas. Using simple data-driven activities such as analyzing mobile battery levels among students, predicting teacher attendance, and estimating chances of a free period, participants were guided to calculate probabilities and interpret results meaningfully. Emphasis was placed on understanding how data supports logical conclusions and helps in making informed decisions in daily life. Conducted in an interactive and learner-friendly manner, the session encouraged continuous questioning and active student participation.
A total of 15 students engaged enthusiastically in discussions, calculations, and reflections. The activity-based approach reduced anxiety toward probability, improved confidence in applying mathematical reasoning to real-life contexts, and enhanced conceptual clarity.
Overall, the programme was effective in promoting logical thinking and reinforced VSEC’s commitment to providing meaningful academic enrichment through experiential and context-based learning.
| The Editorial Team of News & Events joins the entire Vidya fraternity in extending heartiest congratulations to Dr. Siju on delivering the session that enhances students’ conceptual understanding, built confidence in applying mathematical reasoning and promoted logical thinking !!! |
