CE faculty members and students present research paper on AI-powered cardiology assistant at ICACA 2026

The Department of Civil Engineering evaluated the integration of steel mill scale—an industrial by-product—into Self-Compacting Concrete (SCC) by utilizing machine learning algorithms to predict and optimize its mechanical and fresh properties for sustainable, eco-friendly construction.

The Department achieved a major academic milestone at the International Conference on Structural Engineering and Construction Management (SECON 2026), held from 03 –05 June  2026, at FISAT, Ernakulam. Jisni P. J. (S8, CE Dept), Ashish Krishna (S8, CE Dept),  Surya Sunil (S8, CE Dept) and Arjun Krishna K. R. (S8, CE Dept) under the mentorship of Mr. Kiran Babu A. R.(Asst Prof, CE Dept) presented their paper (ID 83) titled “Machine Learning-Based Predictive Modelling and Experimental Evaluation of Steel Mill Scale in Self-Compacting Concrete for a Resilient Built Environment.”

The study explores the eco-friendly reuse of steel mill scale as an industrial by-product in self-compacting concrete alongside machine learning predictive modeling to optimize material performance.  The paper earned well-deserved acclaim at the conference and has been selected for publication in Springer Nature’s prestigious Lecture Notes in Civil Engineering (LNCE) series .
