ECE Dept hosts Alumni Interaction Programme

By regularly organizing alumni interaction programmes, the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) provides students with a valuable platform to connect with distinguished alumni and gain first-hand insights into career pathways, industry readiness, and professional growth

The Department , in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and the Association of Vidya Alumni (AVA), organized an offline interaction session titled “A Journey from Campus to Career” on 10 July 2026.

The session featured distinguished alumni  Mr. Augustin Lazar (Electro Technical Officer, Merchant Navy, 2020–24 batch, ECE Dept) who detailed maritime career pathways, technical requirements, and recruitment processes, and Mr. Anand B (NPD Engineer, SFO Technology,2020–24 batch, ECE Dept) who shared valuable insights on transitioning to the corporate world, product development, and portfolio building.

Mr. Augustin Lazar shared his inspiring journey from engineering student to Electro Technical Officer in the Merchant Navy. He detailed the core responsibilities of the role, recruitment processes, and training requirements, while addressing both the challenges and rewards of a maritime career. Additionally, he emphasized the critical role of discipline, technical expertise, effective communication, and adaptability in thriving within the shipping industry.

Mr. Anand B discussed his transition from college to the corporate world, offering valuable insights into product development, industry expectations, interview preparation, and workplace professionalism. He emphasized the importance of continuous learning, problem-solving, teamwork, and staying updated with emerging technologies to excel in the engineering profession.

Outcome of the Programme
The programme enabled students to:

Under the effective coordination of Ms. Fetsy K. Francis (Asst. Prof. – Sr. Grade, ECE Dept.), the programme ran seamlessly with active student participation and an engaging interactive discussion
