Vidya Media Club serves as the definitive visual archive of Vidya Academy of Science and Technology, playing a vital role in preserving the institution’s rich heritage. As the college’s official digital chronicler, the club bears the prestigious responsibility of capturing, producing, and managing media coverage for every major institutional milestone, high-energy tech festival and cultural showcase. Through their lenses, the members of Vidya Media Club do not just record events; they creatively preserve the vibrant spirit, legacy, and history of the campus for generations to come.
With the aim of introducing new members to the club’s creative objectives, enhancing their photographic skills, and encouraging them to observe their campus surroundings through a unique, artistic perspective, the Media Club Executive Committee organized the “Colour Hunt” activity on 17 July 2026 at venue NB007.
The session commenced with a welcome address by Ms. Surabhi M. S. (Media Convener, Asst. Librarian), who introduced the core vision and objectives of the Media Club. She explained that the club serves as a creative hub aimed at developing students’ skills in photography, videography, content creation and digital design, while providing a platform to document campus life. She also introduced Aswin T S (Media Head, S8, CE Dept). Following this, the newly elected Media Club Executive Committee was officially introduced to the members. Committee members shared their personal journeys and experiences within the club, highlighting how active participation had helped them build confidence, master technical media tools, and develop essential leadership and teamwork skills.
To translate the club’s objectives into immediate action, the Media Club hosted its first practical challenge of the year, titled “Colour Hunt.“ This interactive photography challenge was designed to test the participants’ immediate observation, composition skills, and active engagement.
Prior to the launch, participants were assigned a predefined, strict color palette. They were instructed to fan out across the Vidya campus, using their surrounding environment to find and capture frames that precisely matched or creatively utilized the assigned colors. The challenge emphasized technical color harmony and framing over high-end equipment, allowing smartphones and professional cameras to compete on equal footing. Upon completion, the photographs were digitally submitted to the Media Club coordinators for evaluation based on color accuracy, composition and visual storytelling.
The event concluded with an overwhelming response, showcasing a diverse array of entries that highlighted the participants’ enthusiastic and highly individualistic artistic perspectives.
