Civil Engineering faculty member and student present research paper at SECON 2026
Through its research paper presented at SECON 2026, Vidya showcased innovative approaches to improving the strength and durability of reinforced concrete structures.
The Department of Civil Engineering marked another significant academic achievement with the successful presentation of a research paper at the International Conference on Structural Engineering and Construction Management (SECON 2026), held from June 3–5, 2026, at the Federal Institute of Science and Technology (FISAT), Ernakulam.
The research paper, titled “Experimental and Analytical Assessment of Structural Performance of RC Beams with Web Openings Using Basalt Fiber and CFRP Strengthening for Enhanced Structural Resilience”, was presented under Paper ID: 113 by Ayana Balan P (S3 M Tech, CE Dept) under the guidance of Mr. Kiran Babu A. R.(Asst Prof, HoD, CE Dept)
The study examined the structural behaviour of reinforced concrete (RC) beams with web openings strengthened using Basalt Fiber Reinforced Polymer (BFRP) and Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) composites through experimental and analytical evaluations. The findings offer valuable insights into improving the load-carrying capacity, resilience and service life of structural elements, contributing to the development of more sustainable and resilient infrastructure.
| The Editorial Team of News & Events joins the entire Vidya fraternity in extending hearty congratulations to Mr. Kiran and Ayana on this remarkable achievement that provides valuable insights into the effectiveness of advanced strengthening techniques in improving the strength, durability and long-term performance of reinforced concrete structures !!! |
